My Awesome Fitness Test Results

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Once a year, we in the Air National Guard, need to do a fitness test. It involves running 1.5 miles, getting our waistlines measured, and doing as many push-ups and sit-ups as we can in one-minute (each).
If you remember (or in case you didn’t know)… when I started seriously considering reenlisting in the Air National […]

Letting Go of My Bananas

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

While I was pushing myself physically and mentally through Saturday’s triathlon (yes, eventually I’ll stop writing about it), my good friend Jules was attending a women’s retreat at her church. She shared with me one of the key messages from her day.
This is what Jules wrote:
Then she [the speaker] told the story of how […]

Inaugural Maniac Triathlon

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Yesterday I participated (notice I didn’t use the word “competed”) in the first ever Maniac Triathlon. This mult-sport event raised money for the Northern York County YMCA in Biddeford, Maine. I heard that the event raised about $8,000 for it.
Event consists of: 1/4 mile ocean swim… 14.7-mile bike ride… 3.2 mile run.
The day started […]

2006 Goals Review

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

Is it just me or is December flying by?
A few entries ago I promised to share a few of my 2006 goals and give a progress report. I’ve chosen five goals (from my list of 25) to share with you.
Why five? Why these five?
I’ve chosen these five goals because they represent the different status […]

One Task at a Time

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

Last week I shared one of my goals for 2006… to do a top-to-bottom house cleaning.
I’ll admit that I’m still feeling pretty overwhelmed with all that I have left to do.
I created a checklist of things I needed to do to finish cleaning the den. It had 5 tasks on it.
Den cleaning
[…]

Goals 2006 Update

Friday, December 1st, 2006

This past January I created a list of goals for 2006. For the past few weeks I’ve been very aware that one of my major personal goals is still a long way from being completed. The goal? Do a top-to-bottom, whole-house cleaning.
I was surprised to see that I’ve actually completed 50 percent of that […]

Find Value Even When It Isn’t Perfect

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Last week Mike Harris, a good friend of mine, performed his Mike Harris & Friends (a one-man show) program at a church in Saco, Maine.
He borrowed my digital recorder so that he’d be able to create an audio CD of this show. Our goal was to have a great CD he could sell during […]

Start with a Decision

I’m so excited for my friend Candy!
Candy is a great motivational speaker and a good friend. She makes me laugh, cry, and push myself just a little bit more to achieve the things I want in life. I think I do the same for her.
Last week we met for breakfast (my favorite meal of the […]

A Confused Mind Says “No”

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

I’ve heard many speakers and business marketing experts say “A confused mind says “No!”
Personal experience suggests this to be true. If I feel overwhelmed with choices, I won’t pick anything. It happens to me when shopping for clothes, makeup (which I still don’t wear because there are sooooo many choices, and breakfast cereal.
I don’t want […]

Just Get on the Treadmill

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

UGH! Have I mentioned before that I don’t like to exercise? Okay, it isn’t the exercise I mind so much, it’s the sweating… no, it’s the exercise… and the sweating.
But I find that it’s something that MUST be done no matter how much I resist it. Okay, I don’t HAVE to do it, but I […]
