Man Bites Panda Bear
The following article from USA Today’s web site:
BEIJING (AP) — A drunken Chinese migrant worker jumped into a panda enclosure at the Beijing Zoo, was bitten by the bear and retaliated by chomping down on the animal’s back, state media said Wednesday.
What was he thinking? Okay, he drank four “jugs” of beer. Not sure how much that is in US terms, but it sounds like quite a bit. And I’m thinking it must have been quite a bit for him to want to cuddle with a panda beer.
What was he thinking? There was a fence around the bear pen. The man jumped over it. Didn’t he stop to wonder: “Hmmmm… Is there a reason there’s a fence around the bear pen?”
What was he thinking? The man scared a bear. The bear bit him. Did he run away? Did he scream for help? No! He bit the bear back!
What are you thinking?
Are you so focused on what you want or think you want that you lose your ability to think logically? Are you seeing your life situation and opportunities for what they really are or is your perception skewed?
Do you think that just because a panda bear looks soft and cuddly that it is? Do you think that because there is a protective barrier around something dangerous that it’s okay to jump over it? Do you think that because you’ve been hurt the best response is to strike back?
Many things can interfer with your ability to make wise decisions. Alcohol and drugs are obvious ones. But anger, fear and overconfidence also inhibit rational thought. They can cause us to do stupid, dangerous things, too.
What are you thinking?
