Let Go of Being the Expert

Today I pulled a card from my deck of “One Hat at a Time” cards. It was one of those multi-colored children’s beanie caps with a propeller on top. Cute.

The message for me today? Let go of being the expert. Rather than approaching the day or situations with the attitude of having the answers, I am encouraged to approach the day and situations with the wonderment of a child.

Ask questions rather than make suggestions.

Wonder “what if…” rather than state “it will…”

Get back to the Who? What? Why? Where? When? How? basics.

Sometimes I feel like I have to have all the answers. But the answers I can provide at this moment are restricted by the knowledge and experiences I’ve already had. By approaching the day and today’s situations with no expectations, no predisposed ideas, I may gain new or clearer insight into the world around me.

What about you? Are you the expert? Are you ready to let yourself be the student? Give it a try and let me know what wonderful new things you discover!
