Organize Your Speech

Several years ago I had the pleasure of sponsoring a new Toastmasters club in South Portland, Maine. I was there at the informational meeting, I attended their first meeting as a club-in-progress. I was there when they officially chartered their club as Blue Ribbon Toastmasters. I was there to celebrate their first anniversary.

The following speech was part of a trilogy that three of this new club’s sponsors and mentors presented at that first anniversary party. My presentation “Organize Your Speech” was the middle speech.

The first speech was on choosing a topic and you’ll hear me make references to Donna T’s speech on that topic. The third part was on delivering your speech. Yes, the purpose of our trilogy was to help new Toastmasters take a speech from conception to presentation.

I hope you enjoy this presentation and that it helps you organize the abundance of information for your future speeches.

Speaking Off the Cuff

One of the key points in this speech is to pick only two or three points to share with the audience. Most topics are so broad we could write four or five speeches! So in case you’re wondering where to get your next speech idea, just think about the excess material you cut from your last one!

This speech is also available as streaming audio from my main website along with other speech related topics.
